Dog walking is the familiar part. Understanding the dog is the point.

Some owners simply need a reliable individual walk. Others need help with a young dog, an older dog, a sensitive or reactive dog, a new rescue, or a training plan that is difficult to apply in ordinary life. Canine Companion meets people at that practical starting point, then adapts the support to the dog and household in front of me.

Individual support, without forcing every dog into the same model

All walks are private to one household. I do not offer mixed-household group walks.

Welfare-first private dog walks

Solo walks, or walks for compatible dogs from the same household, shaped around age, health, stamina, confidence and emotional needs.

Young, elderly, sensitive or reactive dogs
One dog, or a suitable same-household pair

The published price includes up to two dogs from the same household where a shared walk is safe and appropriate. Additional dogs may be possible by agreement; suitability and any extra charge depend on the dogs’ combined size, strength, age, health and handling needs rather than a flat per-dog fee.

Informed body check & brush-through £15 walk add-on

A calm, owner-level brush-through after the walk, using my canine massage and handling knowledge to notice changes in coat, skin, paws, movement, sensitivity or general comfort. This is not grooming, dematting, massage, diagnosis or treatment. Any concerns are reported to you for monitoring or veterinary discussion.

Home and support visits

Practical visits for puppies, older dogs or dogs who need company, comfort, enrichment or a shorter break rather than a full walk.

Relationship & behaviour review

A structured home visit for owners who know something is not working but are unsure what the behaviour may mean or what kind of help they need.

Help before problems become patterns

Support is available before a puppy or rescue dog arrives, during the first days and weeks, and after formal training when the advice makes sense on paper but is harder to apply at home.

I can work alongside an existing training plan, regardless of which professional you have chosen. My own guidance will remain welfare-led, relationship-first and responsive to what the dog is communicating.

About Canine Companion

Built from years of seeing dogs cope with change

Through years of professionally transporting dogs and cats, I repeatedly saw how much behaviour changes when an animal feels uncertain, rushed or unable to predict what happens next. I also saw how often caring owners were given instructions without enough help understanding the dog in front of them.

Canine Companion grew from that gap. My background includes canine Merishia massage, zoopharmacognosy, canine and feline nutrition study, ongoing canine behaviour education, and extensive practical experience handling animals during unfamiliar and stressful journeys.

Every dog is an individual. Every owner is different. The support they receive should reflect that.

Service area

South Lincolnshire

Covering Swineshead, Sutterton, Kirton, Heckington and the villages between them.

Work beyond the usual area may be possible with an additional travel charge. Appointments are offered on weekdays, subject to availability.

Free introductory meeting: Dog-walking clients receive a short 15-minute meeting so I can meet you and your dog before any booking is agreed.

Professional boundaries

Clear support, clear limits

Canine Companion is not a veterinary service, does not diagnose medical or behavioural conditions, and is not a substitute for a qualified clinical behaviourist. Sudden or unexplained behaviour changes should be discussed with a vet. Dogs with serious bite histories, significant medical concerns or risks that cannot be safely managed may need specialist involvement before I can work with them.

I do not use choke chains, prong collars or electronic collars. Slip leads are not used as an everyday walking tool for dogs who pull. Rewards, toys, harnesses, flat collars, long lines and conditioned muzzles may be used where appropriate and agreed with the owner. The informed body check and brush-through is an observational owner-level service only and does not replace grooming, veterinary examination, massage treatment or diagnosis.
